It's a free beer tasting...and their beers don't suck! So 5 stars it is! This is not the actual brewery, but rather a tasting room. The staff person was very friendly and informed. She talked with us for a bit about local life until some other tasters interrupted us. Friendly staff with a delicious stout! Definitely worth a stop when strolling through the square.

This is not the actual brewery, but it is their tasting room. The beer is good and the staff knows their stuff. I went in the summer and their blueberry beer is amazing. They also gave us some stickers and coasters to take home and recommended which beers we should buy (since they had some available for purchase that they didn't have to taste). A must-do if you find yourself in Bar Harbor.

Free beer tasting. What more can be said? If you're proud of what you sell, you let people try it knowing they will buy it. They do just that. If you like beer, stop here. Not too many places you get free beer! Unfortunately, we didn't like any of the ones we tried enough to buy it but it was still worth the drop in because when it comes to beer, everyone has slightly different preferences.

One of my favorite stops in bar harbor! My husband loved the brew tasting, and I loved the wine tasting. I could have bought all of the wines, but opted just for the black currant apple and the blueberry dessert wine. The currant apple wine was one of my favorite wines of all time! The staff on both sides were kind of friendly, but exceptionally knowledgeable about the products we were sampling.

Blueberry in the beer was a new one for me, but a nice touch for the widely grown Maine fruit. It makes for a refreshing beer in the summer. It was my favorite here and the only beer worth buying in the grocery store.

Great place for free tastings, my husband and I stock up here every year before we leave. Great wines (the chardonnay is amazing!) and beers, and bring home some of the root beer and blueberry syrup, which is great for making blueberry martinis or lemonade! Staff is very knowledgable and friendly.

The people working here are really great. While you are browsing they almost always ask you if you would like to try whatever they have opened. I've only had the blue berry ale from here and it was amazing. They of course sell mugs and glasses too

A very generous beer tasting led us to purchase a 6-pack. Did you know you can mix-and-match? We definitely did, though with a slight favoritism for the Thunder Hole Ale. Great service, good prices, good beer. Cheers!

Met the owner - Andre - at a local restaurant tonight. Very passionate about Bar Harbor and the beer he brews. The beer is absolutely outstanding and seasonal, so things will always be interesting. Try the following: - True Blue - blueberry ale - fruity, fresh, 3.5% alcohol. Great summer beer. - Thunder Hole Ale - amazing. Slightly more alcohol and hoppiness. Outstanding. I am going for the stout tomorrow. Amazing beer. Love it.

Nice little tasting room where you can try out a few beers (and wines across the room if you like) and chat with the folks that make and love this stuff. I had an informative conversation about hops growing with one of the staff as mine failed this year. You get four "shots" of beer for $3, and that can be used as a discount against any other beer or merch that you might want purchase to take away afterward. The coffee stout was outstanding and I had to take a bottle home. So, for the $6 bucks that it cost for my wife and I to do the tasting, it was like I got the large bottle of beer for "free" after applying the discount. Not bad at all!

Had a great dinner there with my wife on a recent vacation. Good beer selection and really good food! Had lobster flatbread appetizer which was really good. I had the pesto Alfredo with chicken which was F@&$ing delicious! My wife had the black bean quinoa burger which she enjoyed also. Really good food lots of variety and very friendly staff. Really enjoyed our visit on a partially rainy day this place is a must if you live nearby or are on vacation there!

Stopped in to taste some beer. Wanted to purchase a case for our vacation. Encountered the rudest most arrogant store "manager" I have ever encountered. The beer I tasted wasn't great but it hardly mattered as I would not have purchased a case from him had it been the nectar of the gods. Stay away. A real downer of an atmosphere. Oh, and contrary to the reviews you are reading the tasting was not free. I had to pay to be insulted!

My mom was hella scared to go here because its only been open 3 weeks but after some convincing we hit the roof deck for din din. I had the Mac Attack burger a burger topped with a spoonful of mac n cheese. It was great on a great roll and some big onion rings. Everything looked pretty good and seems like a fun night spot with two upper outside decks, pool room, and several bars. I will go again and won't have to drag mom next time!

Not gonna lie, the "free tasting" signage lured us in. Talk about marketing genius! The blueberry ale was so intriguing I had to get a bottle to bring back with me. I was sold when the girl mentioned that it was also good in blueberry pancakes...a splash here and a swig there sounds perfect for a lazy sunday morning. My beer connoisseur bf loved the thunder hole ale. We brought back a bottle for our friend, who loved it equally so. Definitely one of the best finds of our trip.

We came here on the Maine foodie tour. The sodas are good and use real sugar no high fructose yuck. The wines are on the sweet side but are fun different.

Nice staff. Passionate about their beers. They were quick to offer free samples and explainations of each beer at their bar. The blueberry ale has a strong blueberry aroma and is crisp but not sweet like soda like other fruit beers. We were informed that they had just been purchased by the Atlantic Brewing Company, also a Bar Harbour local microbrewery. $10-12 for a 6 bottle pack

Went in 2 nights to do a tasting, employees wouldn't even acknowledge us. Gave a fake number when we asked to speak to a manager.

Great place to stop and sample some local beer. And the prices are quite a deal. Flights of 4 beers are just $3. And another $2 gets you a 4 oz. glass of the one you liked best. PLUS, they give you a store credit for each of those beer purchases. So with my $5 credit, I bought a pint glass for a buck! Amazing. I liked all 4 beers on tap, but the stout was my favorite.

Great, homey brewery in the heart of Bar Harbor. The dudes here are friendly and happy to chew the fat about beer. The Cadillac Mountain Stout is their world-famous beer nerd concoction, but everything we tasted was really well done: the New City IPA and Thunder Hole Ale are solid, and the Blueberry Ale is excellent (I liked it better than the Atlantic Brewing Blueberry, which is interesting as they're owned by the same folks). Nice souvenirs in the shop, I picked up a few. You get to keep a little shot-size glass after tasting, which is a nice touch. Worth a visit for a half hour or so.

So it is Bar Harbor Crewing Co or Atlantic Brewing Co? I still don't know, but either way we sampled some pretty good brews here. The stout was very well done and I really wanted to try the Porter, but it wasn't available on this go around. This could be personal preference, but I think the marketing/image could be quite improved should the owners desire a bigger push across the US- it is quite bland and unappealing. The beer should stand on it's own merit, but I just couldn't help but notice this...especially since there is just so much competition in the craft market now with appealing bottling/canning labels and design. Being led to the beer is often half the battle before that first taste.

Of course I am a fan! Must try the Thunder Hole! I love beer alcohol tasting locations and i strongly recommend giving Bar Harbor Brewing Co. a stop! Loved it so much I ended up buying their bottles!

Small little brewery but very friendly to beer enthusiast. $4 for a flight and you get tickets back for store credit to be used later. I ended up buying flights for everyone then was able to use the credits for a 6 pack. After the flight they even brought out a double ipa that was only keg available in town to try. Top notch customer service and above average beers. You can't go wrong here. There is also wine tasting acrossed the room for your non beer fans.

good beers, cheap flights. we liked their blueberry wheat a lot - really light and not heavy and syrupy like most. husband ended up getting a pint at another bar and they put blueberries in it. worth the quick stop!

Come on 4 samplings of any of their beers for $3 bucks, can't beat the price! Plus their beers are pretty damn good, and says a lot coming from a near non beer drinker. They also served up local wild blueberry sodas and Moxy for the kids as well so it was a big hit for the entire family.

The beer tasting is a great time! The people working there are friendly and happy. Great rainy-day stop, plus the beers are delicous! Also for the black and blue (or also known as summer stout! ;)). You won't regret it! There is also a wine tasting right across, but we didn't make it past the beers.

Employee was very knowledgable and nice. The flight of beer is $3 for 4 2 oz tastings of beer. The blueberry beer was really good. Right next door is a wine tasting for those who are not beer lovers. They give you a $3 credit on any purchase in the store with your flight purchase. I would go back. This is not the brewery, it is only the store where you can taste and buy beer. Kids get a taste of blueberry soda and their own root beer.

Excellent food here, we had bacon popcorn which is popcorn made with bacon fat then chopped bacon added too it. We also tried the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers which were amazing, they are also drizzled with maple syrup. My wife had the fish and chips, the fish was a very large slice with a ton of fries. I had the beef stew which was great! Service was great, we ate on the roof deck. Full bar, very friendly staff

The title may mislead you a little, this isn't the actual brewery, this is an outlet for the brewery. Regardless it's a great place to go to get their product. The beer that Bar Harbor Brewing has to offer is top notch. It's a very limited selection of average beers, but they are fantastic. A few years ago their Cadillac Mountain Stout was compared to Guinness. Now I know that in some circles that's blasphemy, and I agree with it, however, it's worth a shot. They're blueberry ale is delicious, crisp and clean. They have tastings, they make their own soda's, and they have a high end/high alcohol beer selection...like barleywine's. Wine is something they also offer, they're a bit pricey but for a local place it's a good deal, and they are delicious!

For $3, we got to sample 4 beers at 2 ounces a pop. $3 for 8 oz isn't great, but it can be applied to any purchase. Even better, you can combine these discounts when purchasing. So a couple could get $6 off a six pack. This is not something I've seen other breweries do, and I think I like it. However, the beer here is not as good as Atlantic, plus that one is free and offers more. So if you only have time for one, well...

Stopped in here for a few mins to kill some time while in Bar Harbor. This is really just a tasting room that offers you 2 oz samples of 4 beers for $3.00. Not a bad deal overall. I tried: Leaf peeper (red ale) True Blue (wheat ale) Thunder Hole Ale (English style ale) Cadillac Mountain Stout (stout) When I think of great beers from Maine I don't think any of the ones I tried here would make my list, but not a bad way to spend a few minutes in Bar Harbor, and I love the local names of their beers. Loved the 2 oz beer glass, made me feel like a giant!

I had had this on my list of breweries to try in Maine and was really excited to try it. Unfortunately time was tight, so we got there around 8:50. However, they did close at 9, the doors were invitingly open, and we mainly wanted to do the tasting which should fit within 10 minutes. However, we were upset when they said the tastings was closed. But we can assist you with buying any of the items (you haven't tasted!), or you can come back tomorrow 11-9! (Of course, we were leaving the next day early). But the thing we thought was hypocritical was we were there before 9 that very day! So why could we come back tomorrow for tastings before 9, but we couldn't have a tasting before 9 today? It just seemed like some 20 year olds wanted to get out of work early. Unless you advertise that tastings end 10 minutes before you close, the best business practice is you are doing tastings until you close (and the bane of a waitress or bartender, maybe slightly after for the customers that sneaked in right at close) and then you clean the equipment, close out the cash register, etc. after close and/or you get the last customers out. We were luckily able to try their blueberry ale at another restaurant nearby and did like it; however, overall, we are still disappointed in the bad business practice.

From reading the reviews, it sounded like a good place to visit and buy some beer while in Bar Harbor. Having done the western Mass Brewers guild tour, I have visited a number of craft breweries and had great expectations. Unfortunately they were not met. They had some good beers, and we did get the flight so we could try four of their core beers. I guess $5 for 8 oz of beer with a souvenir 2oz Pilsner glass is reasonable. Unfortunately, we stood at the bar for quite a while seemingly being ignored. Finally someone acknowledged us and started our pour. We were ignored again for a while before again being acknowledged. We were made to feel that we were imposing on something, although not quite sure what. After having tasted the offerings we decided we liked the thunder hole and asked to buy a growler of it to take with us. We were told that it is not offered as a growler. The only growlers we could get were what was on the board, so I asked to taste some of those beers, and was told that they were not on tap, they were only being sold as growlers. Something is wrong here, if you can't taste the beer that you are being asked to buy, and your only option is to take the word of the barmaid that the growlers are filled with some of her favorite beer. That is all well and good, but her tastes may be very different than ours. So I guess if you visit Bar Harbor Brewing, or Atlantic Brewing (they are one in the same) to have a flight of their beer or wine, it is pretty good, but not exceptional. Don't expect to go there to try beer to buy.
